Why Saxon King?

Based in Fairlight Cove, East Sussex, our proprietor is believed to be a direct descendant of King Raedwald.

Raedwald was a King of East Anglia (c. 599 - c. 627), he was the son of Tytila. Raedwald was the first East Anglian king of whom there is any record.

The Sutton Hoo ship burial mound, unearthed near Woodbridge in Suffolk in 1939, is believed to have been the tomb of Raedwald. It contained many gold and silver objects (now housed in the British Museum, London), evidence of the great wealth possessed by the Anglo-Saxon rulers.

Our design studio is just a few miles along the coast from where William of Normandy (the Conquerer) came ashore in October 1066 with a mighty invasion force. This landing eventually led to 'The Battle of Hastings' on 14 October 1066, where Harold II the last Saxon King was felled, by an arrow, shot allegedly, by a french archer, although this will, for evermore be cloaked in the shadows of time.
